Obituary for Joseph N. "Joe" Gosselin

Joseph "Joe" N. Gosselin, 83, of Somers, CT, loving husband of the late Mary F. (Chesanek) Gosselin entered into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Joseph was born February 24, 1933, in Hartford, CT, the son of the late Henri and Adele (Marcoux) Gosselin. Throughout his 83 years, much of the everyday ups and downs he experienced helped to bring out his strong nature and ability to rise above adversity. From his start as a young man in his own business, to the unwavering support of his growing family, to the gentle caring of his wife of 51 years, Mary (Chesanek) Gosselin. After losing her battle with
cancer, he waited 13 years to now join her in peaceful repose. Joe was a bricklayer and mason for many years. He was a member of the International Union Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 1 of CT and was the owner and operator of Trinity Enterprises in Somers from which he retired in 1996. Joe was a member of the Somers community since 1972 and was a devoted and faithful communicant of All Saints Church. Family, religion, and work is how Joe lived his life, he was always willing to offer a "helping hand" to a friend or neighbor. He leaves 8 sons, Roger and his wife Eden, Andrew and his wife Lisa, Mark and his wife Diana, Joseph and his wife Grace, Vincent and his wife Michelle, Raymond and his wife Shelly, Philip and his wife Jodi, and Christopher and his wife Julie, as well as 4 daughters, Leona Crosskey and her husband Bill, Catherine Harris, Theresa Munson and her husband Bill, and Maryadele Moore and her husband Scott. He also leaves 44 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; and two brothers, Gerald Gosselin and his wife Frances, and Andre Gosselin and his wife Peggy. He was predeceased by nine siblings, Beatrice, Leo, Roger, Paul, Germain, Pauline, Madeline, Morris, and Marie.
Calling Hours will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 at the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at All Saints Church, 25 School St., Somers (Please meet at Church). Burial will follow at New West Cemetery in Somers.
