Guy  Maillet
Guy Maillet, 76, of Windsor Locks loving husband of 55 years to Traudl (Bentz) Maillet entered into Eternal Rest on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his family. Guy was born October 17, 1939, in Ste-Marie-de-Kent, New Brunswick, Canada. He was the son of the late Levi and Viola (Arsenault) Maillet. Born and raised in Canada, Guy immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 16, residing in Hartford. He later moved his family to Bloomfield where he resided for 20 years until finally settling in Windsor Locks for the last 28 years. Guy proudly served in the United States Army and then began a career as an auto mechanic at several locations eventually becoming Shop Foreman at Old Towne Lincoln Mercury in Windsor for 12 years. He ended his career as the Area Engineer at the former Dexter Corporation, retiring in 2001 after over 20 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. Mary and St. Roberts Parish’s and a member of the American Legion Post # 36 Gensi-Viola and the New England Electric Car Association. Guy's greatest passion, after his family, was cars. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR auto racing and the Montreal Canadiens. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Jeanette Maillet of Framingham, MA and Lucille Maillet-Gulino and her husband, James of Plainville, CT; a brother, Ross Maillet and his wife, Marie of Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada and three sisters, Bernadette Lirette of Fort Meyers, FL, Rose-Marie Maillet of Windsor Locks and Lucille Williams and her husband, Bob of Harrisonville, MI; and 13 nieces and nephews. Guy was predeceased by a sister, Claudette Gauvin and 2 nephews. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A Mass of Christian Burial for Guy will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at 11:30 am, at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm St., Windsor Locks. (Please meet at the church) Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
