George Ettore  Taravella
George Ettore Taravella, 82, lifelong resident of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of 59 years to Rita (Gaspar) Taravella, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 17, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 22, 1934, in Windsor Locks, a son of the late John and Elvira (Quagliaroli) Taravella. George was employed by C. H. Dexter Corporation for 45 years where he retired in 1996. He was a communicant of St. Mary Church and a member of the Riverside Council #26 Knights of Columbus and a member of the Riverside Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. George and his wife taught round dancing for 23 years and enjoyed square dancing. He was an avid gardener and a kind man who enjoyed helping others. George’s children and grandchildren were the light of his life. In addition to his wife Rita, he is survived by a daughter, MaryAnn Seaha of Windsor Locks and her children Paul George Seaha and Carly Seaha, a son, Edward Taravella and his wife Karen of West Suffield and children, Rachel Taravella, Brandi Bona, and Curtis Bona; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. George was predeceased by his siblings, Lawrence, Leon, Aldo, and Anthony Taravella, Gladys Ragazzo, Caroline Pyznar, Madeline Ansaldi, Frances Taravella, and his twin sister, Martha Jensen. Relatives and friends may join the family for calling hours on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT. A funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Suffield House for the care and support they gave George. Memorial donations in George’s memory may be made to St. Mary Church, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
