Elinor Ray  Brown (Wilson)
Elinor Olive (Ray) Brown, 96, of Suffield, CT passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the Suffield House with her two loving daughters by her side. Elinor was born January 11, 1921, in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late Harold and Katherine (Dowling)Ray. Elinor graduated from Girls Commercial High School in Brooklyn, NY and was employed at the Chemical Bank in Manhattan where she met her future husband, Robert Brown. Elinor proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was stationed in Norman, Oklahoma as an airplane mechanic while Robert was stationed on a Destroyer. Elinor and Robert were united in Holy Matrimony on March 17, 1946, and celebrated 59 years of marital bliss until his passing in 2005. Robert a U.S. Navy Veteran for 20 years was stationed all over the U.S. and abroad, some of the bases were Oregon, Washington, California, Marshall Islands, Hawaii, Arizona and eventually settling in New York. After retirement, they built a home in West Granby, CT where they lived for 25 years. Elinor resided at Suffield by the River for 9 and a half years and at the Suffield House for the past 4 and a half years. She was a stay at home Mom through the years until her late 50's when she began working for Dr. Russe, a local optometrist in Granby. Elinor was a hands on Mom and enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She loved watching the Red Sox, playing poker (and winning), crossword puzzles, painting , jewelry making and chocolate. She will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by two daughters, Caren Rasmussen and her husband, Dean and Claudia Siedlecki and her husband, Charles all of Broad Brook; a son, Robert and Chris from NJ; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Elinor is also survived by a brother-in-law, Bruce Brown and his wife Geri of Eugene, OR and many nieces and nephews. Elinor's family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Suffield by the River and Celia, and The Suffield House and Carrie. Special hugs and love to Ruthie, Yvonne, Octavia, Michelle, Donnette, and many, many others. "We appreciate the loving care Mom received from everyone there all these years." There are no calling hours and funeral services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
