Obituary for Monique J. Gilbert (Bury)

Monique (Bury) Gilbert, 87 of Windsor Locks, CT passed peacefully from her home into the Lord's arms on December 9, 2016. She was born on January 26, 1929, in Liege, Belgium, she was the only child of August and Adolphine (Roosbeck) Bury. She met and married the love of her life, Lennis Gilbert while he was stationed in Belgium during WWII. They were married for over 50 years until his death in 1996. She spent most of her life in Windsor Locks dedicating herself to her six children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered by friends, family, and neighbors for her generous and loving spirit. Monique is survived by her children, Nadine and Sebastiano Alderucci of Westport, Daniel and Melissa Gilbert of Windsor Locks, Carol Gilbert of Windsor, Jacqueline Loney of Agawam, MA, Cherie Courtois of Windsor Locks and Michele and T.R. Paulding of Glastonbury. She leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lennis Gilbert and her son, Gary Gilbert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 12, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT. Burial will be held at the convenience on the family. Special thanks to Home and Community Health Services for their dedication and caring through the home health and hospice programs. Donations can be made in Monique's name to the Home and Community Health Services or Disabled Veteran's Association.
