Obituary for Helen E. Bursztyn (Ciesla)

Helen E. Bursztyn (Ciesla)
Helen (Ciesla) Bursztyn, 86, of Windsor Locks, left her warm, comfortable and loving home for the last time, Sunday, January 8, 2017. She was the wife of Conrad C. "Connie" Bursztyn for 62 years and the daughter of the late John and Mary (Janda) Ciesla. Born and raised in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, Helen attended local schools, and following graduation, she was employed by the former Thompsonville Trust Co. After Connie and Helen married, they moved to Buffalo, NY for a few years and then returned to CT where they settled in Windsor Locks and resided for nearly 60 years. As a communicant of St. Mary Church, she was a former Eucharistic Minister for many years and served in that capacity also at St. Francis Hospital. She was a long-time very devoted volunteer at the Enfield Food Shelf for over 16 years and devoted nearly that many years tending to all her books that came her way at the Windsor Locks Public Library, her home away from home. She loved flowers, bird watching, and all kinds of animals, and was an avid reader. She was a member of several book clubs where she made many new and cherished friends. Besides her husband Connie, she leaves behind her three cherished sons, Mike and his wife Kathy of Ft. Myers, FL, Bill and his wife Laurie of Enfield, and Rich of Windsor Locks; her cherished grandchildren, Chad, Todd and Matt of FL, Nathan and Jess of Enfield, and Eric, Emily, and Alex of Windsor Locks. She also leaves her special black fuzzball-kitty, "Mouse." She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Matthew, and a nephew, John. And to all my old Polish friends Wesoły świąt! Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Donations in Helen's name may be made to Fidelco, 103 Old Iron Ore Rd., Bloomfield, CT 06002 and to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111.
