Roland G.  Murdock
Roland G. Murdock, 88, of Windsor Locks beloved husband of Rita (Conti) Murdock passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Lewiston, ME on February 26, 1928; son of the late Joseph and Mary Louise (Auger) Murdock. Roland was raised in Maine and has lived in Windsor Locks since 1956. He was employed by the United States Department of Defense for 29 years. Roland proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and Korea. He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Church and a long time member and Past President of the Windsor Locks Lions Club. He enjoyed playing cards, tinkering around the house and fixing odds and ends. In addition to his loving wife Rita, he is survived by two children, Susan Grady and her husband Kevin of Somers and Peggy Risley and her husband Mike of Agawam, MA; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dolores Chaloux. He was predeceased by a daughter Marjorie Vigliano, a brother, Eugene Murdock and a sister Lola Murdock. Relatives and friends may join the family for visiting hours on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT. A funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm Street, Windsor Locks, CT. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial donations in Roland’s memory may be made to Windsor Locks Lions Club, P.O. Box 105, Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
