Obituary for Robert Thomas Calder

Robert Thomas Calder
Robert T. Calder, 75, of Somers, husband of the late Anita (Palermo) Calder (2009), passed away peacefully at home Monday, February 6, 2017. Born in New York, NY, "Bob" was the son of the late Lyman and Bertha (McMaster) Smith. He grew up in Manchester, CT, where he was very active in the community as a proud Eagle Scout with Troop #25. After graduating from Manchester High School (1960), Bob earned a BA from UConn and also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard of Connecticut. He had a long career as an Aerospace Sales Consultant for 45 years until his retirement. He enjoyed learning about history, was an avid reader, and spent his free time outdoors pursuing his passion of fly-fishing on many local CT rivers and streams. He is survived by two daughters - Jaime Wilson, her husband Dominic and their children Rhys and Carys of Somers, and Lindsay Carpenter, her husband Forrest and their son Ilerdon of San Mateo, CA, in addition to many extended family. Services and Burial are private. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, 103 Old Iron Ore Rd., Bloomfield, CT 06002.
