Obituary for Wanda E. Pohorylo (Pawelec)

Wanda E. Pohorylo, 91, of Suffield, CT, loving wife to John Pohorylo for 66 years, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital Hospice Care in Waterbury, CT. She was born May 7, 1926, in Enfield, the daughter of the late Blazey and Sally (Kot) Paewlec. Wanda, was raised in Enfield and was the youngest of eight children. She moved to Suffield where she resided for sixty years. She was employed by Bigelow-Sanford and later with the Regional School System for Special Education for over twenty-five years before retiring. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Suffield and was very active in her community. Wanda was a member of the Polish Junior League, and a member of the Garden Club in Suffield. She volunteered at the Thrift Shop in Suffield and the Johnson Memorial Medical Center Cardiac Rehab Unit. For over twenty years, Wanda was a snowbird living in West Palm Beach, FL during the winters. In addition to her husband, Wanda is survived by two daughters, Carol Dietz and her husband, Michael of Prospect, CT and Elaine Hill and her husband, Malcolm of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Monica Hill, Malcolm Hill, Eric Dietz, and Patrick Dietz; and many nieces and nephews, and extended family. Wanda was predeceased by six sisters, Jenny Boland, Amelia Fanelli, Stella Nareski, Helen Arenius, Mary Daigneau, Eleanor Boudreau; and one brother, Stanley Pawelec. Visitation hours will be held Wednesday, June 21 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22 at St. Adalbert Church, 90 Alden Ave., Enfield (Please meet at church).
