Leon S. Link, 74, of Enfield, loving husband of the late Cecile (Bergeron) Link passed away unexpectedly on July 31, 2017 in his home. He was born April 26, 1943 in Springfield, MA, the son of Walter Link of West Suffield, and the late Mildred (Newton) Link. Leon proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1989 from the State of CT Department of Corrections after twenty-six years as a Correctional Officer. Following his retirement he worked as a driver at Alamo Car Rental for several years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and he enjoyed woodworking and being a wonderful neighbor, and lending a hand to anyone that needed help. His true joy in life, however, was being a grandfather. He will now join his wife, “Cele” (Bergeron) Link, the love of his life who died in 1991. In addition to his father, Leon is survived by three sons, David Link and his significant other, Carol Strider of Cape Coral, FL; John Link and his wife, Jamie of Milton, FL; Robert Link and his wife, Kelly of Rocky Hill; a sister, Marlene DelGaizo and her husband, William of Suffield; and eight beloved grandchildren: Jessica Link, Ryan Link, Karleigh Link, Alexis Modeen-Link, Evan Link, Twyla Link, Jenna Link, and Mason Link. Leon was predeceased by his mother, Mildred Newton. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit the family on Friday, August 4, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. A funeral service for Leon will be celebrated on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery in Enfield.
