Edward J. "Mike"  Nolan Jr.
Edward J. “Mike” Nolan, Jr., of Windsor Locks entered into Eternal Rest on Sunday, August 20, 2017, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born October 17, 1932, in Hartford, CT the son of the late Edward Sr. and Margaret (Banning) Nolan. Mike retired in 1997 from Kaman Aerospace after 37 years. He enjoyed working on his Chevy trucks and his cars and tending to his lawn. Mike will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He is survived by his six children, Donna Szwed and her husband, Stanley of Windsor Locks, Edward J. Nolan, III and his friend, Joanne of Windsor Locks, Mark Nolan and his wife, Tammy of Dallas, TX, Kirk Nolan and his wife, Catherine of Windsor Locks, Gregory Nolan and his fiancé, Holly of East Windsor, Lisa Wawruck and her husband, Steven of The Villages, FL; 16 grandchildren, Eric Tellier, Stacey Macleod, Todd Szwed, Matthew Nolan, Michael Szwed, Amy Wentworth, Samantha Siemionko, Thomas Falzone, David Nolan, Rebecca Lee, Scott Nolan, Patrick Nolan, Christofer Hawes, Michael Nolan, Reed Nolan and Luke Nolan; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy McMurray and Gail Ann Nolan both of Windsor Locks and several nieces and nephews. Mike’s family would like to thank his caregiver, Collette Hill for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Mike over the last year. Mike was predeceased by a daughter, Gloria Tellier; a brother, Leonard Nolan and a sister, Margaret Cumbo. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St. A funeral service for Ed will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Poquonock. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
