Obituary for Thomas S. ""Tom"" Kanonas

Thomas "Tom" S. Kanonas, 92, a longtime resident of Windsor Locks, passed away peacefully with his wife "Betty Jane" by his side on Saturday, November 25, 2017. He was the son of the late Thomas and Efrosine (Pappas) Kanonas and the loving husband of 49 years to Betty Jane (Harris) Kanonas. Tom worked for many culinary employers, ending his career as Director and Teaching at Johnson & Wales Culinary College. He was a handyman, and his passion was actual woodworking, especially, remodeling his house. Tom was an avid Bingo player and a member of AHEPA, Saginaw Valley Lodge#216, and many other organizations. He was a veteran of the United States Army, during WWII, serving his country proudly. Besides his wife Betty Jane, Tom is survived by his 5 children Sandra Cormier and her husband Tim of Oakland, CA, Pamela Kanonas of Big Bear, CA, Mikell Kiersey and his wife Marianne of Parsons, Tenn., Marcia Suryan of Napa, CA, Denise Zocco and her husband Frank of Windsor Locks, CT; his sister-in-law Joyce Chase of Napa, CA and 8 grandchildren Christopher, Jason, Matthew, Mikell, Marcus, Morgan, Matthew, Charlotte, and 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his son Thomas Jeffrey Kanonas and his brother Paul Kanonas. The family will receive relatives and friends during visitation hours on Friday, December 1, 2017, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT 06096. There will be a Funeral Service at 3:30 PM. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom's memory to a charity of one's choice.
