Obituary for Clifford E. "Cliff" David

Clifford E. "Cliff" David
Clifford "Cliff" David, 88, beloved husband of Claire (Boudreau) David for 58 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at his home in Enfield, CT, surrounded by his family. He was a resident of Enfield for 15 years and lived in neighboring West Suffield for 34 years.

Born in San Francisco, CA, Cliff was the only child of the late Edgar Rademacher and Irma (Weniger) (Rademacher) David. He was raised by his mother and his adoptive father, the late Persis David, in Vallejo, CA. Cliff attended the California Maritime Academy and served as a naval officer in the Korean War for which he was awarded a bronze star. He met and married Claire in Los Angeles, CA where they had two sons before moving to West Suffield.

Cliff worked as a mechanical engineer in the aircraft industry at TRW, Hamilton Standard and Combustion Engineering. He was a great outdoorsman, who enjoyed playing tennis, fishing, woodcarving, writing poetry and caring for his pets. He was a devoted husband, father and friend.

In addition to his wife Claire, Cliff is survived by his sons, Daniel C. David (Peter Moran) of Ossining, NY, Jeffrey C. David of Suffield, CT; and grandson Daniel D. Justice of Enfield, CT; as well as extended family and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

A short visitation followed by a brief memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield.
Donations in Cliff’s memory can be made to Home and Community Hospice Services of Enfield (101 Phoenix Ave., P.O. Box 1199, Enfield, CT 06082) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
