Obituary for Mary C. Palomba - Bourke

Mary (Calabro) Palomba- Bourke, 84,of Bradfield Dr., Somers, passed away after a brief illness, on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, surrounded by her four loving children. She was the widow of Daniel Bourke, Edward Stevenson and Edward A. Palomba, MD. Mary was born in Waterbury, CT, on April 11, 1933, the third child of ten children of the late Joseph and Carmela (Sanzara) Calabro and was a graduate of the former Waterbury Catholic High School. She had been a resident of the Somers community since 1960 and had retired several years ago as a bookkeeper for the Park Medical Associates DBA Nutmeg Healthcare Associates. Mary was active in the Somers community serving as a volunteer at Johnson Memorial Hospital, a member of the Somers VNA Committee, and a Den Mother during the 1960's. She was a longtime communicant of All Saints Church in Somersville and was a member of the All Saints Catholic Daughters of the Americas-Court 1405. Mary was a woman of kindness, consideration and tolerance, an outstanding mother and wife, who touched the hearts of all who knew her. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Mark Palomba and Tami, of Somers, Edward Palomba and Carolyn, of Somers, Lisa P. Deni and Nicholas, of Enfield, and Joseph Palomba, MD and Kristina, of Shrewsbury, MA. Granny Mary will be dearly missed by her 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She also leaves four brothers: Dino Calabro and his wife, Barbara, of Ridgefield, CT, Joseph Calabro and his wife, Anne, of Watertown, CT, Fred Calabro of Somers, and Dennis Calabro and his wife, Margaret, of Roxbury, CT; two sisters: Carmie Calabro and Linda Guerrera, both of Waterbury; a sister-in-law, Lucy Calabro of Waterbury, 25 nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Forrest, of Enfield. She was predeceased by her grandson Patrick Palomba and three brothers: Sam, Armand and Edward Calabro. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday (Dec. 30) at 10:00 a.m. in All Saints Church, 25 School St., Somersville (please meet at church). Private burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Mary's family will receive relatives and friends at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., on Friday, (Dec. 29) from 4 - 7 p.m..
