John J. "Jack"  Macala Jr.
John J. "Jack" Macala, Jr., 83, of Enfield husband of Evelyn (Spark) Macala entered into Eternal Rest on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at Johnson Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Jack was born August 10, 1934, in Meriden, CT the son of the late John J. Senior. Jack proudly served his country first in the United States Coast Guard and then in the United States Air Force. He retired in 1973, after a total of 20 years of service. After retiring from the Air Force he began working in telecommunications, he retired from MCI in 1998 as a Field Engineer. He was a parishioner of St. Martha's Church. His favorite pastimes included fishing and hunting. In addition to his wife, Evelyn to whom he was married 58 years, he is also survived by three children, Mark Macala and his wife, Nicola of Waldorf, MD, Miranda Macala Norris and her husband, Jim of Plainville, and Ian Macala and his wife, Lavinia of Vernon; his nine beloved grandchildren, David, Angela, Peter, Andrew, Jennifer, Sarah, Ian, Robert, and Christopher; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Madeline; his sister, Jean Nessing of Shewsbury, MA. There are no calling hours. Funeral services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in the State Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Jack's memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
