Anthony L. "Tony" Pellegrino, 92, of Somers, CT loving husband of Margaret Mary (McGrogan) Pellegrino entered into Eternal Rest on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital. Tony was born November 1, 1925, in Ambler, PA the son of the late Frank and Carmella (Bruno) Pellegrino. Tony proudly served in the United States Army during World War II with the 99th Infantry and was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal for exceptional meritorious service. Tony was born and raised in PA and moved his family to Somers in 1974 where they made their home. He retired from the Town of Somers in 2008 after several years as the Director of the Housing Authority. Tony was a faithful and devoted parishioner of All Saints Church where he served as an Altar Server and Lector for many years. He served as past commander of V.F.W. Post 9397 in Hampden, MA and was a life member and former financial secretary for the Knights of Columbus Council 4303 in Somers. Tony was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's sporting activities. Tony was dedicated to his country, his church, and his family and will be deeply missed. In addition to his wife, Margaret to whom he was married 65 years he is also survived by his eight children, Anthony C. and his wife, Shirley, Jeannette McClusky and husband, Richard, Carmella Turner and husband, John, Louis Pellegrino, Daniel and his wife, Darlene, John Pellegrino, David and his fiancée, Michele Lemieux, and Maryann Passalacqua and husband, Joseph; 26 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary and Vivian and many nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by a son, Joseph Pellegrino; a grandson, Elias Turner, and several brothers and sisters. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., (Route 190) Somers, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 10 am at All Saints Church, 25 School St. in Somersville. Please meet at the church. Burial will follow in Somers Old West Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Tony's memory may be made to All Saints Church, 25 School St., Somers, CT 06071.
