Janice (McDermott) Gratto, 77, of Stafford, CT, beloved wife of Roger Gratto, passed away on Wednesday February 28, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Janice was born on August 2, 1940 in Hartford CT. She grew up in the south end of Hartford where unbeknownst to her, her future soulmate was also raised. Janice had a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Johnson Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. It was there that she met her husband. They soon married on May 18, 1984 and moved into their lifetime home in Stafford. Janice loved to travel and she and her husband shared many memorable trips to the shores of Montauk and Newport, RI. One of their most cherished journeys was a visit to Italy to attend the wedding of her granddaughter, Molly. Among her other interests were a passion for dance and playing board games. Janice was a longtime member of the Stafford Springs Congregational Church where she also served as a Deacon.
In addition to her husband, she leaves behind her sons; Michael Estey, Christopher Estey and his wife Karen, Daniel Estey and his wife Daun, Bernard Estey and his wife Heather; 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Janice was predeceased by her brother Thomas McDermott.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 11 a.m. at Stafford Springs Congregational Church, 3 Main St, Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
