Obituary for John Mangini

John M. Mangini, 88, of Enfield, passed into eternal peace Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. Born and raised in Enfield, John was a lifelong resident of the community. He was a son of the late Nicolo and Frances Mangini. He graduated from Enfield High School, and later graduated from the University of Hartford earning a Bachelor's Degree. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. John retired as a teacher for the State of CT after 21 years. He was a bodybuilder and competed into his 60's, winning many competitions and awards. He was also a member of the AAU. He was an avid UCONN women's basketball fan, as well as a Michigan University football and Chicago Bears fan. He is survived by two brothers, Daniel Mangini of Middletown, RI, and Dominick Mangini of Port Orchard, WA; he also leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Paul, William, Michael, Sylvester, and Joseph, and a sister, Mary Clossey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at St. Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Ave., Enfield (Please meet at Church). Committal will follow at St. Adalbert's Cemetery.
