Obituary for Gene Locke

Gene (Young) Locke, 81, lifelong resident of Enfield, CT, entered into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 21, 1936 in Thompsonville, CT, the daughter of the late Milton and Florence (Carney) Young. She was a nurse at Women's Health Group and retired after 29 years. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Bernard Church. Gene enjoyed traveling, especially to her second home in Vermont and taking cruises. Her biggest joy in life was her family. Gene is survived by two daughters, Patricia Caswell and her husband, Fred of Enfield, and Kathleen Stratton and her husband, Thomas of Enfield; five grandchildren, Fred Caswell and his wife, Liz, Michael Caswell, Heather Caswell, Samantha Stratton, and Jamie Stratton; four beloved great-grandchildren, Leah, Justin, Reagan and Noah; and her two close friends, Betty Wright of Vermont and Linda Sacheli of Enfield. In addition to her beloved husband of 59 years, Charles Locke, Gene is predeceased by two sisters, Rosamond Sidway and Virginia Sidway. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT 06082 on Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 1:00-2:00 pm for visitation hours, followed by a service at 2:00 pm. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations in memory of Gene may be made to Allied Enfield Stars, 3 Pearson Way, Enfield, CT 06082.
