Gerry leaves behind children Duane of New Fairfield, CT; Kim of Windham, ME; Glen of Bristol, CT; and Garrett of Southington, CT; grandchildren Kurt, Rachel, Gary, Ryan, Zachary, Brian, Eric, and Allison; and his sisters Gloria Whyte and Dolores Gray. Though residing in Connecticut much of his life, Gerry's heart always brought him back to Maine's countryside among family and friends.
A hunter, fisherman, electrician, and young baseball player of some renown, Gerry will be remembered as a man who put his family first. His dedication to them never wavered as he instilled his core values of family, work ethic, and sports. He took great pride in the children he raised. Gerry’s ever-present support of his children found him a spectator at all their activities. His marriage to his wife, Judy, lasted beyond 50 years speaks to his love and devotion. Gerry excelled as an electrician, eventually owning his own business. His skills were in demand even after retirement. Prior to that Gerry served his country in the Air Force stationed around the globe from North America to Europe to North Africa to the South Pacific.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 Saturday, May 5 at the First Congregational Church 22 Veterans Highway, Brooks, ME. After the service there will be a reception at the Varney which will culminate in the burial of Gerry’s urn next to his wife at Kinney Cemetery in Brooks.
