Print
Francesco "Frankie" Vono, 79, of West Stafford, beloved husband of the late Giuseppa "Josephine" (Nardi) Vono for 58 years, entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 12, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital. Born and raised in Bracigliano, Italy, Frankie was the son of the late John and Giuseppa Vono. He was a former resident of Suffield and lived in West Stafford since the early 1990’s. He proudly opened his first pizza restaurant in 1958 and opened several future restaurants including Frankie’s Firehouse Restaurant before retiring. Frankie was a hard worker and loved serving his famously delicious pizzas and food to the thousands of families and happy customers for so many years in the community. He enjoyed cooking feasts for his family especially during holidays. He also owned and operated Vono Construction for many years, where he enjoyed building many homes and subdivisions while working full time at the restaurant. He loved wrestling and was an animal lover as he enjoyed the outdoors. He also enjoyed going to the casino. Frankie never did things the easy way or took short-cuts and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving children, John Vono and his significant other Tina Montefusco of Suffield, Josephine Tittarelli, and her husband John of Suffield, Fran Hinckley, and her husband Danny of Somers, and Frankie Vono Jr. and his fiancee Amy Desso of Somers, and six cherished grandchildren, Angelina, Nina and her partner Tony, Rebecca, Johnny, Ashley and Frankie, and two great grandsons, Nicolas and Vincent Vono-Morin. Funeral services and burial are private. Memorial donations in Frankie's memory may be made to the Nature Conservancy, Connecticut Chapter, 55 Church Street, Floor 3, New Haven, CT 06510-3029 To leave online condolences, please visit www.Leetestevens.com
