Obituary for William "Bumper" J. Norris

William "Bumper" J.  Norris
William “Bumper” J. Norris, 74, of Enfield, beloved husband of 51 years to Valerie (Shay) Norris, peacefully passed away at home Sunday, April 15, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late William S. Norris and Madge (Kennedy) Norris, William was born and raised in Enfield where he lived for many years. William served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a patriotic man and proudly flew the flag at his home for many occasions. He owned and operated his own customs brokerage, W.J. Norris, Inc., for 27 years. In his spare time, Bumper enjoyed motorcycle riding and golfing.

In addition to his loving wife, William is survived by his children; Scott S. Norris and his wife Susan, Michael A. Norris and his wife Luz, Timothy J. Norris, and Kelly A. Norris, all of Enfield; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Norris, Lauren Norris, Christopher Seile, Trent Barrows, and William M. Norris; a great grandchild; Liam Thomas Killian; his brother John F. Norris and his wife Judy of Windsor Locks; his sister Judy Alcorn and her husband John of Port St Lucie, FL, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Peggy Norris.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Thursday, April 19, 2018, from 5-7 pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd, Enfield, CT. A memorial service will follow at 7 pm with military honors. Donations in William’s memory may be made to Enfield Food Shelf, Inc., P.O. Box 699, Enfield, CT 06083.
