Obituary for Charles B Pike Jr.

Print
Charles B. “Pops” Pike Jr., 79, of Enfield, beloved husband of the late Joyce (Czepiel) “Bobki” Pike for 57 years, entered into eternal rest on Saturday May 26, 2018. He was born on August 9, 1938 in New Rochelle, NY, son of the late Charles B. Pike Sr. and Mary Katherine (Williams) Pike. Chuck was raised in Fairfield CT and later moved to Enfield where he resided for the remainder of his years.
Chuck proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve, and then enjoyed a long career of over 25 years at UTC as a Senior Project Analyst before retiring at the age of 51.
Much like his beloved wife Joyce, Chuck loved to donate his time to his community. He was very involved with boy scouts as well as youth sports. He served as head umpire for the town of Enfield little league and also manned the yardage markers for the Enfield high football team.
Chuck's family meant everything to him, he always made time for them and enjoyed every moment with them. He loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed having backyard cookouts surrounded by those who meant the most to him. Chuck was very active and had multiple hobbies such as bowling, fishing, baseball and softball. Chuck enjoyed playing cards with his wife and friends and also enjoyed playing card games with his grandchildren. He loved animals and there always seemed to be one or more of the family pets at his side or in his lap. Chuck and Joyce also loved watching the variety of birds that frequented the multiple feeders in the backyard. He was also an avid golfer and couldn't wait to get onto the course as soon as the weather permitted. Chuck also enjoyed gardening and often donated vegetables to the needy, and planted beautiful flowers all around the yard which both him and his wife enjoyed very much. Chuck was also a member of the Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church and donated his time to a variety of events for the church.
Chuck is survived by his children, Charles M. Pike of Enfield, Carey A. Thayer of Stafford Springs, and Jeffrey W. Pike of Hebron; his grandchildren, Zachary and Cameron Thayer, Veronica Pike , Delaney and Nathan Pike, and Jessica Pike; his great grandchildren, Angelina and Anthony; and. In addition to his loving wife, Chuck was predeceased by his sister, Shirley (Pike) Amspacher.
Special thanks to all of the wonderful people for their love, care and support. Kelly and Veronica Pike for your endless love and care....he was truly blessed to have both of you.
