Obituary for Robert Keller

Robert "Bob" Keller, 92, beloved husband of the late Martha (Barry) Keller, peacefully passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Suffield House. Son of the late Edward Keller and Anna (Manning) Keller, he was born on August 23, 1925. Robert was a lifetime resident of Enfield where he taught Physical Education at JFK Jr. High School, and later served as the Athletic Director for the towns of Enfield and Somers. He was a member of the CT Association of Athletic Directors and was inducted into the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame. Robert was the oldest member of the Enfield Society of Thieves and Robbers and held the cane as the longest tenured member. In addition to his career, Robert was a sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed watching the Red Sox and UCONN basketball. Robert proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Enfield. Robert was a loving father and husband and was known for his generosity. He is survived by his children; Dianne K. Stone and her husband Robert of FL, Nancy K. Bowman and her husband Les of MD, William J. Keller and his wife Brunella of Suffield, Kathleen E. Keller of Carlisle, MA, Barry E. Keller of Enfield, James M. Keller and his wife Lisa of Enfield, and Mary M. Keller of Suffield; his eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Andrew, Lindsey, Christopher, Jaime, Michelle, and Lisa; 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Martha, Robert was predeceased by his brother Edward Keller and his sister Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Keller) Boothroyd. Robert’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday June 14, 2018 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. Family and friends may gather on Friday, June 15 at 9 a.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels for a procession to St. Patrick Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Patrick King St. Cemetery.
