Obituary for Freda Adams

Freda Adams
Freda (Cooper) Adams, 90, of Enfield, CT passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Freda was born on March 6, 1928 in Dukinfield, England, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Rosina (Darch) Cooper. She came to the United States in 1951 and settled in Maine. She also briefly lived in Tucson, AZ before making her home in Enfield, CT in 1959. She worked for over 22 years as a nurse's aid at Parkway Pavilion before retiring in 1991. Freda was a dedicated member for over 50 years at the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Enfield where she also served as a Deacon for many years. Freda cared deeply for others and loved to help people. In 1992, she began volunteering at the Enfield Food Shelf in addition to her other volunteer services throughout her town and with her church. She was awarded Enfield Volunteer of the Year Award in 1996. Freda was a great singer and participated in the Goldtones Choral Group. Freda is survived by her loving daughter Cheryl Livengood of Somers; her son, David R. Adams and his wife, Leslie Anderson of Middle Haddam; two brothers, Geoffrey Cooper and his wife, Eileen, and David Cooper, as well as her late brother, Raymond's widow, Molly; a sister, Margaret Beeley and her husband, Geoffrey; and a grandson, Benjamin J. Adams; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews, and many cousins. A memorial service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Services have been entrusted to Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels.
